Day 14 is where 7 Days to Die separates prepared players from unprepared ones. The second blood moon introduces Cop zombies, brings significantly more enemies, and tests your base in ways Day 7 didn’t.

Here’s your complete Day 14 survival checklist.

What Changes at Day 14

By Day 14, your game stage has climbed considerably - typically 60–100+ depending on your playstyle. This means:

  • More zombies total: Roughly 1.5–2× the Day 7 count
  • Cop zombies appear: Their acid vomit attack is devastating at close range and can damage blocks at distance
  • Higher zombie HP: Feral zombies begin appearing more frequently

Run the Horde Night Planner now with your Day 14 stats.

Your Day 14 Gear Checklist

Weapons

  • Q3+ Hunting Rifle or Shotgun with 400+ rounds
  • Backup pistol or SMG with 200+ rounds
  • Melee weapon as last resort (Q3+)

Armor

  • Full iron armor set (or better)
  • Headgear with skull crush mod if available

Medical

  • 8+ First Aid Kits
  • 4+ Bandages
  • 2+ Antibiotics (infection chance increases at night)

Consumables

  • 3+ Grilled Meat or Bacon & Eggs
  • 2+ Coffee (stamina management for long fights)

Base Requirements for Day 14

Your Day 7 base may not hold up at Day 14. Minimum requirements:

  • Walls: Cobblestone or better (concrete preferred)
  • Roof: Reinforced - Cops can be shot from above
  • Approach: At least 5 blade/spike traps in the zombie corridor
  • Repair materials: 50+ cobblestone, 30+ cement mix

Check your base stability with the Base Stability Calculator.

Handling Cop Zombies

Cops are the biggest surprise for Day 14 survivors. Their acid vomit:

  • Deals damage through blocks at distance
  • Creates acid puddles that continue to damage
  • Can destroy weaker blocks (wood, cobblestone) over time

Counter-strategy:

  1. Never stand in their line of sight for extended periods
  2. Move to the side immediately after they wind up the spit attack
  3. Target Cops first - prioritize them over standard zombies
  4. Build your shooting position out of acid splash range if possible

The Day 14 Horde Timeline

On Warrior difficulty, expect:

  • 22:00: 15–25 standard zombies arrive first
  • 00:30: Second wave, first Cops appear
  • 02:30: Peak wave - Cops and Feral zombies together
  • Dawn (~05:00): Survivors despawn, blood moon ends

Stay disciplined: don’t run dry on ammo in Wave 1. Save your best guns and AP ammo for the Cop wave.

After Day 14: What to Do Next

  1. Repair all base damage immediately
  2. Check your Loot Stage - you should now be able to find Q3–Q4 weapons in POIs
  3. Start planning for Day 21 - Wights arrive then
  4. Upgrade at least one exterior wall to reinforced concrete

Survive Day 14 and you’ve proven your base concept works. Now it’s time to scale up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Day 14 has a significantly higher game stage, meaning more zombies and the first appearance of Cop zombies (acid vomit attack). Many players get caught off guard by the acid spit after surviving Day 7 easily.

On Warrior difficulty in the Forest biome with one player, expect 60–90 zombies on Day 14. Use the Horde Night Planner with your actual game stage for a precise estimate.

At minimum: 400+ rounds for your primary weapon, a Q3+ weapon, iron armor or better, 5+ first aid kits, and a base with at least cobblestone walls.
